Pair of Matteo Grassi MG5 armchairs | £895 for the pair

A superb pair of Italian armchairs dating from the 1970s/80s, combining rich tan leather with elegant tubular chrome frames.

The MG5 Centro Studi design draws heavily on the pioneering cantilevered furniture of the Bauhaus era, particularly the work of Mart Stam and Marcel Breuer. The result is a wonderfully clean and sculptural chair that remains as stylish today as when it was produced. Both chairs are in excellent original condition, with beautifully aged leather and bright chrome frames.

One chair retains a small visible fixing to the top of an armrest; otherwise the pair presents exceptionally well. Stamped Made in Italy.
